Veering Away From White – can I wear a colored wedding dress?

Weddings are getting less traditional for some, and people are feeling much less confined by convention and going for something  a little different for their big day, and this can include their dress.  Not all wedding dresses are long these days, and not all of them are white or even ivory now.

If you have a favourite color, it doesn’t have to be an ‘accent color,’ you could make it your main color, and create a splash with a colored wedding dress.  There are two main way to do this.

Subtly: There are plenty of wedding dresses and gowns in a very light shade of a colour, such as a shell pink, beige or egg shell.  Using a color such as this means you can keep a more conventional look but without being painted into a corner with white.

Boldly: There are plenty of dresses as bold as scarlet, or with patterns, and if you want to make a real statement and are not afraid to be brave you can go all out.  If you can’t find anything in the color that you want, there are always lots of bridesmaid’s dresses to look at as a wedding gown or dress.
