Rustic Chic: Real Bride Rachel!

Meet a bride with TONS of personality, OUR REAL BRIDE Rachel!

Rachel came in wanting a lace gown that had enough elegance to make her feel like a bride, but with a unique look.
She tried on a few lace gowns, and none of them felt like "The One".
Rachel's consultant pulled this dress in the room- Maggie Sottero "Malina", it was perfect...all the elegance of a lace gown, but with a unique twist. The overlay on the gown was what truly made the dress EXACTLY what Rachel wanted for her big day!

Rachel added a rustic touch to her wedding day album, and took photographs in the orange grove outside of the temple!

Rachel needed to have sleeves added to her gown to make it Temple ready, she collaborated with Suzanne, our seamstress to get the look of her dreams! A custom Suzanne's build up, made all the difference for Rachel and she could not have been more happy with the results!

Her bridesmaids did not carry the "normal" bouquet,  they had an arrangement of winter berries wrapped in muslin and raffia.
We think Rachel carried her wedding day style off without a hitch!

You looked STUNNING and we are so glad that we could make your gown everything you dreamed of!

If you need a gown, but have requirements, we can help!

Getting the Perfect 1920s Wedding Style

Many brides come to us wanting to know how to get the perfect Gatsby-inspired look for their wedding day. It’s a popular choice and one that really is elegant. Here are a few of our top tips for the perfect 1920s wedding style.

  • Sleek silk dresses are a great choice for this style. The goal here is to replicate the silent film stars of the era. Look for V-neck styles, deeply plunging backs, and a soft sheen for an authentic look. Lace accents can also give your gown a touch of vintage glamour.
  • Ivory, blush, and bisque tones are often better than white. While silvery white can be used, the antique style of off-white tones can give a more period look to your gown.
  • Headpieces are a big part of the look. As you shop for your dress, also consider what you’ll wear on your head. Low caps, veils, and headbands are all perfect choices.
  • Channel your inner flapper for a more casual style. If your wedding is more focused on the Prohibition-era parties, look for a dress that brings the flapper style back. For this you’ll want a short dress, with fringe, frills, or other touches that really give your gown some motion.

If you’re planning a 1920s style wedding, come to our Gilbert bridal boutique. We can help you find the perfect gown for your Gatsby-inspired wedding day.

Las Vegas Love: Pretty in Paris- Real Bride Sharill

When getting married, there is a choice between choosing a venue based on accessibility for everyone to attend, or picking a venue your heart desires.

Picking a venue that's easy to travel to is the best option when faced with such a tough decision, somewhere with a large airport, and many different accommodation choices.

Our bride Sharill did just that, she planned her wedding in the city that never sleeps- Las Vegas!
Our Real Bride Sharill!

"My experience started with Heather at Suzanne’s bridal.  It wasn't until I actually put on a dress that I really felt like I was really getting married.  Her ability to know what would make me look amazing was what led me to my dream dress.  I have always had weight issues, and dress shopping was very stressful for me.  I always felt beautiful in my dress – every time I put it on."

"We got married at the Paris Hotel in Vegas.  Destination wedding – but STILL had close to 90 guests attend.  My husband and I are both ultra runners (hence the running shoes), and we wanted our guests to all wear their running shoes too, if they wanted (and almost all of them did).  As it turned out – our officiant was ALSO a runner.  He made our ceremony extra special.  We both wrote our own vows, and we had laughs, tears and much happiness throughout the ceremony.  We catered a reception at the buffet at the Paris Hotel.  BEST idea EVER!  To this day, people are still telling me we had the best wedding food of any wedding they've ever been to…as they got to eat what they wanted (and the Paris has an amazing buffet)!"

"I am 44.  Meeting my “solemate” (our names for each other) was something I always had hoped for, but didn't really know if it would ever happen.  Having the wedding come together so easily and perfectly for me makes me believe that when something truly is meant to be, the universe moves mountains to help make it happen.   Every minute of my wedding day was perfect.  I felt beautiful in my dress, and I know I married the man I was meant to be with forever."

"I can’t thank you enough for putting me in my dream dress.  I will always remember how beautiful I felt on my wedding day."

You sure looked beautiful Sharill, and we are so ecstatic for you and your "Solemate".
Your gown was perfect and your venue looked enchanting!

Pregnant Bride? Take a Lesson from Halle Berry

When X-Men star Halle Berry married French actor Olivier Martinez last weekend, the bride looked beautiful in her long white gown. Although the details are still being kept quiet, one person present at the wedding said that it featured a plunging backline. Many are speculating that the gown was an empire waist design with crystal accents by Jenny Packham.

If you’re a pregnant bride to be, there are plenty of dress styles that are perfect for your big day. Whether you want to flaunt your figure or hide your bump, you can still look gorgeous for your wedding.

To show off your bump, look for fitted styles such as trumpet or mermaid cuts. To downplay it, choose a looser gown with an empire waist.

Of course, the key to finding the perfect gown as a pregnant bride is to look for something comfortable. Pay attention to the temperature, and choose something that you’ll be able to wear with comfortable shoes.

Diary Of A Bride-to-Be: Location, Location, Location

The dress. The colors. The flowers. The decorations… These are all important at your wedding. However, I can’t think of anything MORE important than the location. This wasn't one of the things I was really looking forward to planning, but I’m realizing that I can’t make any other wedding decisions until I choose a venue! The style of the venue may dictate your theme…The colors already in the venue could clash with your dream scheme… Knowing this, I am keeping my options open until I visit and select my venue.

I’ve known for a while that I wanted to hold my wedding near Yellowstone National Park, since that is where I got engaged. I also love the scenery in the area and I think that though guests will have to travel, Yellowstone is an excellent destination. However, the distance between my home and Yellowstone makes venue selection difficult…

Fortunately, the internet is a fantastic (and absolutely crucial) tool. Sites like The Knot, Wedding Wire, and even Google have helped me narrow my selections. My favorite site was Wedding Wire. You can search areas of interest with as strict of parameters as you like. I found that WW is not all-inclusive, but it’s a good jumping off point and definitely worth checking out!
http://www.weddingwire.com/

Venue sites are packed with info and pictures of past events. Don’t expect to find prices on their sites though. You’ll have to contact them for more specific information. I have been pleasantly surprised by the responses I've gotten from venues I have contacted. With all that said, I’m a changed woman. I am actually really excited to select a venue now, and not just so I can move ahead with dresses and flowers. I can’t wait until I get to go visit some venues in person!

I’m off to e-mail some more venues, but for more of my wedding wondering and bridal breakthroughs, check back soon! Xoxo

Celebrating the Charm of the South-West : Real Bride Patricia!

"Thanks for everything.  The dress was absolutely a dream and fit so well.  Everyone loved it."

All of you soon-to-be brides out there know that picking a "theme", or "look" for you big day can be hard... It can be especially difficult when it comes to an outdoor wedding in the rugged desert!

Our Bride Patricia chose to embrace the rough terrain of the state, and host her wedding in the mountains of Southern Arizona.

She chose to have a rustic look for her ceremony space with a wooden platform, and added a nontraditional aspect to the wedding with her guests blowing bubbles in celebration of the newly married couple!

We hope you had the wedding day of your dreams Patricia!

And it just goes to show you, that no matter where you live, you can celebrate the charm and natural beauty surrounding you!

What to Wear as a Wedding Guest

Planning a wedding can be a challenge, but when you also need to figure out what to wear as a wedding guest, it can be a real struggle. You might be more concerned with your own big day, and that's understandable. This doesn't mean you shouldn't put in the most effort possible to find the perfect style for your time as a wedding guest, though!

When you're a bride-to-be yourself, you know how important it is that the guests come dressed appropriately. You know that you want to be the focal point, and that you also don't want guests getting mistaken for members of the wedding party. You want your guests to dress according to the style of attire you've requested in your invitation.

As a guest, keep all of this in mind. Pay attention to what the couple have requested and stick to it. If they haven't specified in the invitation, don't be afraid to ask, too. Stick to the old etiquette rules about not wearing white and dressing for the type of event, and you should be fine.

Of course, if you're still at a loss, ask our expert dress advisers. They can help you whether you're choosing your wedding dress or need help finding the perfect style to wear as a guest. To find out more, give us a call or come by our Gilbert dress shop!

Real Bride - Rebecca's Vision of Lace

Rebecca came to us with specifications; She needed a temple build up, and a beautiful gown. After finding a stunning and simple lace dress, (referred to at the store as the “chunky lace"dress) we had one requirement taken care of…

Rebecca did some gown research, and decided that she wanted to go with a lined half sleeve, taking care of her other requirement! So now that we had worked out the type of sleeve she envisioned, we turned the creative process over to Suzanne, our AMAZING seamstress.

Rebecca gave us her vision and  her gown was everything she hoped and wished it would be! If you have any special requirements, we can help!

Avril Lavigne's Black Wedding Gown

Avril Lavigne is well known for her distinctive fashion tastes, and she hasn't let us down when it comes to her wedding gown! The Canadian singer married Chad Kroeger, the lead singer of Nickleback, on Monday at a castle in France.

The couple's wedding had a Gothic theme, and they applied this to their attire, too. Chad wore all black, and so did Avril. Her Monique Lhuillier gown was a traditional, formal style in a non-traditional black. It featured a lace bodice and tulle skirt.

Avril also carried a large bouquet of black roses. She finished off her wedding style with a diamond headband and smudged black eyeliner.

She isn't the only celebrity to opt for the unusual dress color. In May, actress Shenae Grimes wore a black and blush Vera Wang gown for her big day.

Do you love the black gown look or think it's too far from tradition? Either way, you can find the perfect gown for your big day at our Arizona bridal boutique, so get in touch today!

Diary of a Bride-to-Be: Bigger is not always better...

Bigger is not always better. For instance, when you are talking about your engagement ring. I'm not talking about stones or carats! I think so long as it was picked for you and with love, the size, type, and color of the ring are unimportant... And maybe rings aren't even your cup of tea! But that's really all besides the point...

When I received my engagement ring, I loved it. But it was fully two sizes too big for my finger. My fiance-to-be had taken several rings from my jewelry box with him to the jeweler, but later found out that none of those rings were meant to be worn on my ring finger.

If this happens to you, don’t panic! Rings can be sized very easily at the jeweler where they were purchased (mine was sized for free).

If you need a quick fix, like I did, try using twine or string. Tie one end on the band and wrap until you've reached the thickness you need. Tie the other end off and enjoy your bling without the risk of losing it. This sizing method certainly worked better than others that I tried (including a hair tie and ribbon…), and came recommended by a jeweler.

A jeweler also told me that thin aquarium plastic tubing could be used to create a more secure fit, if you prefer to explore that method. He did tell me, however, to avoid store bought ring guards. He explained that they are essentially a wire that spans the ring and can scratch the metal band, scarring it forever!
Bad ring guard!
That’s it from me for now, but for more of my wedding wondering and bridal breakthroughs, check back soon! Xoxo

P.S. If your nails aren't ring-worthy and you don’t have time to visit a salon, try Impress Press-On Manicure by Broadway Nails. You can get them at any drug store! I wore them recently and was really impressed! ;)
