The Perfect Something Blue

Even the least traditional brides opt to have something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue for their wedding day. The something blue gives you a chance to be creative and add a bit of fun to your wedding attire.

If you’re shopping for something blue and want it to really make a statement, consider a blue wedding dress. Non-white dresses are a big bridal trend for 2013 and 2014. A pale blue dress is a delicate style, while a deep sapphire tone is an elegant choice.

From L to R: "Zara" from Ivoire by Kitty Chen, "Vera" by Kitty Chen Couture,  "Cinderella" from Ivoire by Kitty Chen. All available at Suzanne's Bridal Boutique.

A white dress can be accented with blue, too. A sash is the perfect way to add a splash of color while still wearing white. Sashes are available in a wide range of colors, and can suit many different styles of gown.

Our seamstress, Suzanne, added the blue accents to this gown by Moonlight Bridal.

Of course, there are many more ways to wear your something blue. Blue accessories are great for many brides. Blue shoes can be a fun way to add color to your outfit, while blue jewelry can be a classic choice.

Blue bows accent this satin heel from Dyeables by Benjamin Walk. Available at Suzanne's Bridal Boutique.

Fantastic Dresses for Flower Girls

Your flower girl is probably the cutest member of your bridal party. It’s a role generally given to a girl under 10, and can be your daughter, niece, or the daughter of another member of the bridal party. In all cases, she’ll need a beautiful dress that fits with the rest of your party.
When it comes to a young girl, you want something that is appropriate for her age and that she’ll be comfortable wearing. The ideal choice is a dress that she’s able to wear the full day, but she will need to be comfortable in it throughout the wedding preparation, ceremony, and photos.

One of the biggest things to consider is the temperature. If you’re having a summer wedding in Phoenix, look for lighter fabrics that will keep your flower girl from getting overheated and uncomfortable. If you’re planning a colder weather wedding, make sure she’ll be warm enough.
Traditionally, a flower girl can wear a white dress, but many brides want the flower girl to match the bridesmaids. Many bridal designers offer bridesmaids gowns and flower girl dresses, so if this is your preference, it can be helpful to start your search with these collections.
Whatever color you want your flower girl to wear, shopping at an excellent bridal boutique can make the process much easier. To find out more about buying the perfect attire for all your wedding party, give us a call or come by our Gilbert location today!

Who Pays for Bridesmaid Dresses?

Whether you have two or twenty bridesmaids, they’ll each need to get a dress for your big day. One thing many brides wonder about is whether they have to pay for all the dresses, or if the bridesmaids themselves will pay for the dresses.

There isn’t a set rule about who pays, but in general the bridesmaids will pay for their own dresses. Of course, if you have the wedding budget for these dresses, too, your bridesmaids probably won’t object to you paying!

Because you’re asking for them to pay for the dresses, you should allow them some input on the style and price. If you think that a bridesmaid will have problems paying for her dress, you can discuss this privately and work out a solution, such as paying in installments, or splitting the cost between you.

Allowing your bridal party to choose their own dresses can also be a great solution. They can find something that suits their body type and their budget.

Spotlight on: Kitty Chen

As an exclusive designer to Suzanne's Bridal Boutique, our brides and the Bridal fashion world has fallen in love with Kitty Chen Couture!

The use of unusual coloring, amazing fabrics and optional straps on many of her designs has created a line with  a personality all of its own!

Ice mint, and Ice blue, along with blush and vibrant red are favorite choices of Kitty, and they create a distinct look, and an eye-catching alternative to the traditional whites and ivories of other bridal lines.

She also is partial to romantic looks, with soft lines and flowing skirts. The "Aria" pictured above is one example of this, with rouching all over the bodice, it is a look that flatters all shapes and sizes, emphasizing a curvy body, while enhancing the shape of a more athletic body.

The "Autumn" shown above is a gown with a dramatic shape and a dramatic color. The beautiful dropped waist ballgown gives the bride the "princess dress" she has always dreamed of, but still shows off the wearers womanly figure.

Kitty Chen is also partial to detachable sleeve options on many of her gowns, giving an ethereal and whimsical alternative to the clean lines of a sweetheart neckline.

If lace isn't quite your style, and you want something with a bit of bling, go for the "Chanel" a fashion forward take on the traditional beaded ballgown. With a tiered skirt and dropped waist, again it showcases the brides natural shape, while maintaining the integrity of the traditional wedding gown silhouette.

We are proud to announce that we will be a carrier of the newest collection by Kitty Chen "Ivoire".

For information on any of the gowns above, please call 480-926-9106.

We'll leave you with this little sneak preview of the Kitty Chen "Ivoire Los Angeles" collection coming soon to Suzanne's Bridal Boutique

Finding a Gown as an Older Bride

Searching for your perfect wedding dress can be fun, but for many brides it can also be stressful. If you’re an older bride, you might not feel like you can wear some styles of gown. However, whatever your age, there is an ideal gown for you.

The main thing to think about is what you find comfortable and beautiful. If you really love a particular style of wedding gown, there’s nothing to stop you from wearing it. There are no etiquette or style
rules that put age limits on wedding gown styles!

If you don’t feel like wearing a big white gown is right for you as an older bride, you don’t need to wear one. Instead, you can wear an evening gown in another color, or even a bridal suit.

Before you make any decision about what you should or shouldn’t wear for your wedding day, you should come to an excellent Arizona bridal salon. At Suzanne’s Bridal Boutique, our experts can help you find the perfect wedding style for you. Give us a call or come by our Gilbert salon today!
