Finding the Perfect Fabric for Your Wedding Gown

The perfect wedding gown is more than just the right style. It's also the right fabric. Finding the right fabric can help you figure out which dress is right for you.

There are lots of different fabrics used in wedding dresses, and many dresses will use more than one fabric to achieve a design. Knowing a bit about the types of fabric can help you know what to look for when you try on a gown.

The best way to learn about fabrics is to get to a fabric store or bridal boutique and get hands on. Touching different types of cloth will give you the best idea of what you like the feel of. Remember you'll be wearing the dress all day, so choose something you're comfortable with, and that will handle the day you have planned.

If you want to know more about materials used in wedding gowns, come by Suzanne's Bridal Boutique. our experts can help you learn more and find your perfect wedding dress, so give us a call today!

How Your Hairstyle Effects Your Dress

Did you know that how you wear your hair can change how your wedding dress looks on you? Whether it's flowing locks, a classic chignon, or a vibrant hue, when you change your hairstyle it will change the overall look of your wedding gown, too. This is why it can be important to keep your hair in mind when trying on dresses.

The style you choose for your wedding day can work with or against your dress style. Knowing what your dress looks like with your hair up and down can help you make a decision. If you're set on an updo, a strapless dress might look too bare. If you're wearing your hair down, its neckline might get lost.

Color is another big factor to consider. Many brides decide to change their hair color for their big day, not realizing that it can also change their overall coloring. This can mean that a white dress will look washed out, and that an ivory gown becomes the perfect choice, or vice versa.

If you haven't chosen your hairstyle by the time you come to Suzanne's Bridal Boutique to find your perfect wedding dress, don't worry! Come prepared, though, and bring some clips or hairbands so you can check out each dress with your hair up and with your hair down so you can get an idea of the overall perfect look for your big day.

Whatever hairstyle you'll wear on your wedding day, Arizona brides can find the perfect gown at our boutique! To find out more about what we offer, give us a call!

Follow Your Heart... Elizabeth shares her love story

It's your wedding day, YOUR wedding day... Who says you have to wear a white dress? Who says you have to follow the trends of other brides? No one. This is the day you get to follow your heart that has lead you to this day in the first place.
I met Graham at Arizona State University in 2007, and we developed a friendship almost instantly while studying Electromagnetism in the Engineering program. We quickly learned that there were more sparks flying between us than what we were observing in lab. We waited to get engaged until after we both graduated (4 years later!). However, that wait made planning my wedding that much more special. I knew I HAD to get my dress at Suzanne's because my older sister had such a great experience when selecting her wedding dress. Suzanne's did not disappoint. I came in for my first appointment with my notes on what I wanted and didn't want in a dress: sweetheart top, lace, anything but white and princess, and definitely not strapless. I basically wanted to stand out, and have my dress be a reflection me and my relationship with Graham. In just 45 short minutes, Suzanne's and my older sister pulled my dress, Jasmine T180, in gold. I fell in love with the lace, the cut, the sweetheart top, the sash, and the cute bolero. It was unexpected, and everything I had hoped for, just like Graham...

People ask, "How do you know when he's 'the one'?" This question is often answered with the obvious, "You just know," but as an engineer, and a problem solver, I know there is more to it than just knowing. Falling in love shouldn't start in your head with what you know, but your heart with what you feel. I fell in love with Graham because he was... well, charming, kinda geeky (like me), funny, and he made me feel happiness I had never before experienced. I was reminded of all of the reasons I loved Graham when I looked into the mirror wearing MY wedding dress that Thursday afternoon in October- the dress that I wore the first time I was called Mrs. Graham...- the start of my life with Graham, my husband. Suddenly, March 3, 2012 seemed farther away than that first day in Electromagnetism, when I first met the man I would marry.

So don't stop following your heart... ever.
Elizabeth

Dearest Elizabeth,

What an amazing story you've submitted for our Suzanne's Bridal Blog. We just love to see the final pictures of our brides on the day of the wedding - you're so confident, peaceful, beautifully smiling and soooo in love! Pictures are worth a thousand words... and yours tell us how much love electromagnetism can really build! Congratulations - we're so glad to have been a part of your special day, Now and Forever!

Loves,

SBB

From Wow too Wowzer!

I first saw these pictures of Kristin in her gown
 and instantly recognized
It's modest styling, sleek cut and soft asymmetrical layering have been a favorite
since I first convinced a bride to try this design on,
even if she was just being nice to me...

Sometimes it takes a personal touch to make an amazing wedding gown transform into  a style all your own.

Kristin was thinking she'd like straps of some sort,
this tapered style wide on the shoulder
was just what she pictured.

The sweetheart neckline needed a little more uhmmmp,
so we asked Suzanne to use her magic wand and deepen that heart.

A final touch, to step up the glamour was the layered petals
that tied on her natural waistline.

It's these little touches that made this gown come to life for Kristin
and she fell head over heels for her wedding gown too...

The photographs by Laura Segall make me feel like a welcomed wedding guest @ the farm.  I'm so happy for Kristin and Heath - They truly have many 4Everafters coming their way!

Thank you from Lindsey!

Dear Suzanne,

Mahalo! Thank you so much for everything you do to make my day special! When I went to the front to pay after my first fitting I was told that you were gifting the alterations on my bustle because I'm marrying a "Hawaiian Boy." I was very touched by that and I wanted to let you know. I'm so happy with my dress & thankful that I found it in your shop. Thank you for everything. You are a wonderful person!

Love,
Lindsey Shigemoto

Thank you, Lindsey!

You have become "Ohana" (family) which is what happens when you are a Suzanne's bride! You look so beautiful in your dress and every time you come into my shop you have a smile on your face and the "Aloha Spirit" shines through! I am so happy you are marrying your best friend. Your big day is almost here and it has been an honor and a privilege to serve you.

Mahalo nui loa from the bottom of my heart.

Suzanne
