When You Absolutely Have To Have It

So, you've found this amazing dress online or in a magazine. You've searched all over town and no one has it in stock. You really want to try on this dress; it's calling your name; you have to get your hands on it! What to do?

Don't worry, don't fret, dear one. Usually there's a simple solution. First, find a bridal boutique that actually carries the designer line that you are searching for. You can find out who has the line by looking either at the designer's website or on the boutique's website. Next, give them a call or shoot them an email. Ask if "loan samples" are available for the particular collection you are interested in.

Say what?

A loan sample is pretty much what it sounds like. A designer will loan out a sample of the dress a bride is interested in. Loan sample programs help fill in the gap between what the designer has to offer and what a boutique is able to carry in their store. Keep in mind (a) not all collections have a loan sample program, but a majority of them do, (b) not all dresses are available as loan samples, and (c) it's probably going to cost you. The privilege of having a loaner dress provided for you will usually cost you between $40 and $100 dollars depending on the designer's loan sample program, and it's usually non-refundable. So before you set out to get a loan sample, make sure you really want it.

What if you're not willing to pay to get a loan sample? Then what? No worries. Bring your picture - and an open mind - to your boutique visit. Thankfully trends umbrella across designers. What you love about this dream dress is likely to be found in a similar dress by the same or different designer. Sometimes dresses are so similar you'll wonder what you ever worried about. =)

New York Bridal Market Trend Report: Tulle Ball Gowns

Wow! What an amazing, whirlwind of a trip! Myself and our managers just came back from New York, New York where attended Bridal Fashion Week (which really amounts to a weekend...but never mind all that. LOL!). We loved seeing all the upcoming bridal gown styles and trends and we want to share as much of that info with you...all week long! Check back daily for more on the trends we saw and bought for the Spring season.

I, for one, am so pleased that girlish gowns are making a comeback. Not that I don't love a fitted, sexy, silhouette, but I think I'm ready for the return of the ball gown. And they were everywhere! Lots of them covered with tulle, tulle, and more tulle! I'm really excited about one of the new Cotin Sposa gowns we picked out that has what I can only describe as "twisted tulle." It's like rocker meets princess and it works in the best way. Hopefully it will make our upcoming Cotin Sposa trunk show so you can check it out for yourself. In the meantime, feast your eyes on these styles:

Princess Week: Nab Kate's Style

As if Dress #1 wasn't already amazing enough, Dress #2 is just a stellar (yes, you just must click the link...totally have to see it)!  Some time after The Royal Kiss, the Duchess of Cambridge changed in to a less formal, but equally as stunning, gown.  We'd argue that her second dress would make a perfect wedding gown for us non-royals.

Thank You Thursday: Jennifer

I'd like to start off this post with a thank you of my own.  To all 108 brides we had in October, from all of us at Suzanne's Bridal Boutique, THANK YOU!!  It was an absolutely incredible month for us at Suzanne's.  Not only did we have a record breaking number of brides, we had the most unique, diverse, and FABULOUS group of brides.  I mean, ALL of our brides are fabulous, but there was something...different...about this month.  I'm not sure what it was, but we are very grateful.  And we know that all of our future brides will bring the magic with them as well.
Okay, enough of my gushing.  :)  This week I want to share a very touching thank you from a bride named Jennifer.  Big thanks to Jennifer for emailing me her letter and the pictures.  She looks like the world's happiest bride.  We're so glad we could be a part of her big day.  Here's her letter and photos:
