We got an audience with the delightful and talented Kitty Chen, designer and owner of Kitty Chen Couture. She gave us the scoop on her Spring 2013 line, just in time for our Kitty Chen Trunk Show this weekend!

KC: Suzanne’s has been a Kitty Chen authorized retailer for over 7 years. Suzanne’s has a wide collection of Kitty Chen gowns and has been providing Kitty Chen brides excellent customer service. They are one of our best retailers.

SBB: What is the inspiration behind your Spring line?

KC: The lightness of nature, the color of nature, the love of nature, the human element, the western and eastern cultures, the art, the vintage… all inspired and created the Kitty Chen 2013 collections.

SBB: What can brides expect to see at our Trunk Show this weekend?

KC: The entire 2013 Kitty Chen collection and KittyChen Couture collection will be at Suzanne’s trunk show, as well as the best styles from 2012 collections. Rosina takes Chicago!

 

As assistant manager of Suzanne's Bridal Boutique, I am lucky enough to attend the National Bridal Market as a wedding gown buyer for the upcoming bridal season. This past weekend I flew to Chicago (along with our manager, Tiffany, and Felicia, one of our wonderful consultants) in search of the best wedding and prom gowns available for Spring 2013. I am happy to report back that we found what we were looking for and so much more!

From lace and beading, to long trains or destination styles, our fantastic designers did not disappoint. They showed up to wow us - So much so, that we had a hard time choosing which ones will come to our boutique this next year.

 After careful deliberation and patient guidance from Tiffany, we were able to narrow it down to the best of the best. Not only did we find what's hot for wedding gowns and prom for next season, but also accessories, and let's not forget our bridesmaids who need to look their best as well. I can't wait to see our beautiful brides wearing these gowns down the aisle on their dream day!

I'm Exhausted! But it was worth it for the experience I had at National Bridal Market! I was lucky enough to meet some of our excellent designers including Justin Alexander and Kitty Chen, I even got to shake hands with David Tutera! 

In authentic Chicago style I won't forget the pizza, hot dogs, or scary cab rides that contributed to a successful whirlwind trip!!

Blush, Pink, and Rose Colored Wedding Dresses

We're happy to report that there is no rule that you have to wear either a white or ivory bridal gown on your wedding day. You are free - if you'd like - to embrace a little color instead!

How about a blush, pink, or rose colored gown, for instance? Celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Gwen Stefani have walked down the aisle in rosy hued gowns and at the spring bridal markets, blush gowns were everywhere.

One of the first of our designers to pick up the trend this season was KittyChen Couture. This month she introduced the "Charlotte" in a spectacular rose color, similar in color to the "Summer" from her 2011 collection (which was a smash hit!).

One of Maggie Sottero's best sellers, the "Victoriana", comes in a pearl rose color (along with black, gold, white, and ivory!) that is just amazing:

Princess Week: Princess Peach

Will Mario ever win the heart of the beautiful and adventurous Princess Peach (AKA Princess Toadstool)?  Yep, you know her from the numerous Super Mario Bros. games from the Nintendo gaming systems.  While she has a knack for getting kidnapped, she's a wily woman, often using her gifts and talents to protect her friends and save her kingdom.  Princess Peach is definitely a girly girl, but she knows how to hang with the boys.  While she obviously enjoys the finer things (look at the sapphires and rubies she rocks daily - and her spectacular red shoes!), she's not afraid to take a risk either or do things that are outside of the box.

That's why I think if Princess Peach ever settles down with Mario, she'd be estatic to wear this blush pink number by Kitty Chen Couture.  It's full, A-line style keeps it princess-y enough for a royal wedding, but it's unique details keep it edgy - just like Princess Peach.  The feathered skirt and unique color are something I think Princess Peach would appreciate, and the sparkly belt would indulge her love of bling.

The Kitty Chen Couture Show Is On It's Way...

It's another trunk show weekend coming up at Suzanne's!  Kitty Chen Couture will be in store for all of you brides looking for something extraordinary.  Like I've mentioned before, Kitty Chen's designs are unique and edgy.  She doesn't do cookie-cutter dresses; each season's collection is signature, taking traditional silhouettes and making them all her own.

Register to Win a Kitty Chen Wedding Gown

There is a special place in my heart for the designs by Kitty Chen.  I just heart them so much.  Her 2010 collection was so incredibly romantic...it was breathtaking and I was so excited to get the pieces on as many brides as possible.  Although the Passion (left) has been quite popular, I think my personal favorite is the Jewel.  The asymmetry and the fact that it has straps make it a very unique piece and very high fashion.  I imagine a bride pairing it with spectacularly couture hair pieces with big feathers and flowers.
