The Halloween Spook-tacular Sale: This Weekend!

The Halloween Spooktacular is one of our favorite sales of the year. It's the only one that we, as consultants, really get to be a part of the fun. Every year during the sale we hold a costume contest between the consultants. Our customers are the judges, casting their vote either because the costume was awesome or because their consultant was awesome (or hopefully both!) and the winner gets a cash bonus. Cha-ching!!

We're pretty sure the brides love to see us be a little less serious than we sometimes can be. Our store is pretty busy and we have to stay pretty focused to keep on top of everything that's going on. But during the Spooktacular sale, we relax - a little - and have some fun.

This is also a fun sale for our brides-to-be because they can save a little moo-lah on their dresses during the sale. All they have to do is put on their costume, bring in the sale flyer (you've got to be on our email list to get it...join here), and save! Brides in costume is as hysterical as consultants in costume and it makes for a super fun day.

We hope that if you're considering purchasing your dress this weekend, you'll join our email list and then stop in for the sale. If nothing else, come by and vote for your favorite consultant (not Tiffany, by the way...she wins every year!! LOL! Although we hear that her costume this year is pretty awesome *sigh*).  =)

New York Bridal Market Trend Report: Wedding Gown Turned Reception Dress

It's my final report on all the Spring trends from New York Bridal Market...
***

I think most brides like the idea of having a reception dress. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian do it all the time. But what real girl can afford a second dress? Designers have finally heard our cries and have started designing some of the most amazing convertible wedding gowns.

Wedding gowns that turn into party dresses is nothing new, but I think that this round of convertible gowns is better than they have been in the past. Before they were mostly tear away skirts that were Velcro, which limited the style of dress that could be converted. Now the skirts are more securely attached and more seamless looking. Check out this fabulous style from Cotin Sposa:

Well, I hope you've enjoyed our trend report. We're so looking forward to recieving our Spring stock and we hope that you are too!

Best Wedding Wishes,

New York Bridal Market Trend Report: Kate Middleton Inspired

Back from Bridal Fashion Week (which really amounts to a weekend...but never mind all that. LOL!), we're reporting all the Spring trends from the show all weekend long...
***

I don't think there is any escaping the affect that Duchess Kate had on this year's wedding fashion. While full on Kate-copies haven't been doing so well (no one likes a copy-cat), Kate-inspired gowns are going to be hot-ticket items. We certainly have her to thank for the rise of more feminine, modern lace gowns and illusion bodices this season. Long sleeves, especially for the Arizona bride, seem kind of dated, but a sleeveless number like this gown from Justin Alexander is right on target:

This style of bodice also gets us away from the totally strapless gowns we've been seeing for soooo long. Kate showed us that a bride could be sexy and stunning without having to show off every bit of skin. We also love the romance that seems to be exuded from a Kate-inspired dress. Maybe it's the lace, maybe it's the modesty, but something about a dress like this beckons us to fall in love.

What do you think? Are you over all things Kate Middleton yet or can we stand a litte more inspiration?

P.S. - If you love lace and/or illusion bodice gowns, Justin Alexander does these trends particularly well. Browse their website for more gorgeous gowns: www.justinalexanderbridal.com.

New York Bridal Market Trend Report: Belts

Back from Bridal Fashion Week (which really amounts to a weekend...but never mind all that. LOL!), we're reporting all the Spring trends from the show all weekend long...
***

Lovely lilac belt on a gown by Jasmine
Belts  - as far as wedding fashion goes - are an under appreciated accessory I feel. Belts are such an easy way to add a li'l something to a gown - either a burst of color, a bit of sparkle, or a unique detail. And what do you know? Belts were all over everything at Market. Even if you choose a gown without a belt, many designers have begun to offer belt packages so that belts can be ordered separate from the gowns. There are a ton of options...consider one for your bridal gown.

New York Bridal Market Trend Report: Color

Myself and our managers just came back from New York, New York where we attended Bridal Fashion Week (which really amounts to a weekend...but never mind all that. LOL!). We loved seeing all the upcoming bridal gown styles and trends and we want to share as much of that info with you...all week long! Check back daily for more on the trends we saw and bought for the Spring season.
***

Color is here in a BIG way! We talked last week about blush and pink bridal gowns, but I assure you that pink is only the tip of the iceberg. Not only did Vera Wang send gorgeous, black wedding gowns down the runway, we saw gowns in subtle greys, soft purples, and striking prints. We actually picked up a new gown from Cotin Sposa (again, I know! But their collection is just SO GORGEOUS!!) in a lovely greyish-purple that you absolutely have to try on (don't forget that their trunk show is coming up next month).

In case you're wondering if colored gowns actually work for a wedding, I can give you my personal assurance that they do! Having gotten married in a soft pink wedding gown myself, I am a little biased. :) But never once did it feel like a prom dress nor did I feel any less like a bride. I felt lovely and beautiful and like myself (daring little fashion devil that I am!). Here's a photo of one of our former brides, Joey, on her wedding day (Happy 1st anniversary, btw, J!). She chose Maggie Sottero's ever-popular Victoriana in black for her big day and she looked A-MAZING! She was estatic with her choice and it fit her personality so perfectly.

Going with a non-traditional color is a risk, but one that is totally worth it. You, your groom, and your guests will remember your gown and will be talking about it for years to come. But don't forget, even if color isn't your thing, most dresses sampled in a non-traditional colors are available in traditional colors of ivory or white. Also, if you like the idea of color but can't imagine a dress full of it, you can always add that pop of color in a belt or other accent piece. I'll be back to tell you about more about belts tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Best Wedding Wishes,

New York Bridal Market Trend Report: Sheer Bodices

Myself and our managers just came back from New York, New York where we attended Bridal Fashion Week (which really amounts to a weekend...but never mind all that. LOL!). We loved seeing all the upcoming bridal gown styles and trends and we want to share as much of that info with you...all week long! Check back daily for more on the trends we saw and bought for the Spring season.

We know this is a trend that can divide brides, but we're going to have to insist that you try to embrace this one! Yes, it is very easy to go from terrific to tacky when you're dealing with sheer bodice bridal gowns, but we're positive that these news gowns hit the right mark. Designer Cotin Sposa captured this trend particularly well. When we purchased gowns from this designer (new to our boutique, by the way - and exclusively available in AZ at Suzanne's) we were particularly careful to see where gowns hit on the body; we were very opposed to any glaringly exposed belly buttons. The model who put each gown on for us was curvy and made us feel comfortable that these weren't just runway gowns, but gowns that our brides would feel comfy in. Each sheer bodice gown was more beautiful than the last, it seemed, and we had a very hard time narrowing it down to just a few! Two of the gowns we picked featuring this trend are below:

Suprisingly, Maggie Sottero also featured several sheer bodice gowns that we know you're going to love. No photos from Maggie yet, but if you check out the fashion show (there's a link on our Facebook page) you'll be able to see how lovely they are (indeed, how lovely the whole collection is! It was so feminine).

So, what do you think? Yay or nay on the sheer bodice? Think you would give it a try? The good news is that should you love the dress but hate the sheer, it's an easy task to have it lined and no one would ever be the wiser. ;-)

New York Bridal Market Trend Report: Tulle Ball Gowns

Wow! What an amazing, whirlwind of a trip! Myself and our managers just came back from New York, New York where attended Bridal Fashion Week (which really amounts to a weekend...but never mind all that. LOL!). We loved seeing all the upcoming bridal gown styles and trends and we want to share as much of that info with you...all week long! Check back daily for more on the trends we saw and bought for the Spring season.

I, for one, am so pleased that girlish gowns are making a comeback. Not that I don't love a fitted, sexy, silhouette, but I think I'm ready for the return of the ball gown. And they were everywhere! Lots of them covered with tulle, tulle, and more tulle! I'm really excited about one of the new Cotin Sposa gowns we picked out that has what I can only describe as "twisted tulle." It's like rocker meets princess and it works in the best way. Hopefully it will make our upcoming Cotin Sposa trunk show so you can check it out for yourself. In the meantime, feast your eyes on these styles:

Gowns by Sincerity, Sottero and Midgley, and Cotin Sposa

Don't worry, if you want to cash in on this trend now, we've got plenty of tulle, like this number from Justin Alexander:

Tell us what you think about this trend; would you consider a tulle ball gown?

Blush, Pink, and Rose Colored Wedding Dresses

We're happy to report that there is no rule that you have to wear either a white or ivory bridal gown on your wedding day. You are free - if you'd like - to embrace a little color instead!

How about a blush, pink, or rose colored gown, for instance? Celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Gwen Stefani have walked down the aisle in rosy hued gowns and at the spring bridal markets, blush gowns were everywhere.

One of the first of our designers to pick up the trend this season was KittyChen Couture. This month she introduced the "Charlotte" in a spectacular rose color, similar in color to the "Summer" from her 2011 collection (which was a smash hit!).

Ella Rosa offers this gown (below) in a light pink that we simply adore:

Ella Rosa (Style #BE93)

One of Maggie Sottero's best sellers, the "Victoriana", comes in a pearl rose color (along with black, gold, white, and ivory!) that is just amazing:

Don't feel confined to traditional ideas of white or ivory for your wedding dress. If you're daring enough, go for a little color in your gown and make it memorable.
