Gowns for a Destination Wedding

Your wedding gown choice will depend on a lot of things, including your general style, your wedding theme and your body’s shape. But you should definitely not forget about the fact that the location of your wedding will make a difference too.

What kind of wedding gown should you look for if you are having a destination wedding? Here are some tips you may want to keep in consideration:

  • ·         The length of your dress. If you are planning a beach wedding, take into consideration that an extremely long, floor-sweeping dress may not be the perfect choice as you risk getting it dirty with sand. However, if you really want a long dress and you are ready to take this risk, go for it because it will make for amazing pictures.
  • ·         The fabric. Again, beach weddings don’t go very well with very heavy fabrics. One of the reasons is related to the fact that these kinds of fabrics simply don’t “fit” into the background. Another reason is that the higher temperatures may make you feel uncomfortable if your dress is too heavy.  Make sure to choose a dress that you will feel truly comfortable in all day, especially if you are going to be somewhere warm and humid!
  • ·         Lace, veil and other similar fabrics look great with almost all types of destination weddings: rustic locations, beaches and so on. These fabrics will look romantic, feminine, gentle and they will be perfect for elegant weddings as well.
  • ·         The design of the dress should also be taken into consideration. Generally speaking, ball gown designs and very intricate, ruffled designs may go better with other types of wedding venues.

Colored Wedding Gowns Are a Great Choice

If you’re looking for something a little different for your wedding dress, color might just be the right answer. Arizona brides are embracing this great trend, which is also popular among celebrity brides.

In fact, this weekend saw another celebrity bride don a champagne and gold gown. Jessica Simpson wore an intricately colored gown by Carolina Herrera for her wedding to Eric Johnson. Champagne and gold are very on-trend colors for brides, as it offers a delicate feminine look on your special day.

Of course, you don’t need to limit yourself to metallics. Pale pinks, blues and greens were seen on the New York Bridal Week runways earlier in the year and are proving to be a great choice for many brides. Brides are also embracing darker colors, with jewel tones being perfect for autumn and winter weddings, in particular.

Whether you want to check out colored wedding dresses or white wedding dress for your big day, come by our Gilbert bridal salon to see what we offer!

Show a Little Leg with These Bridal Styles

As a bride, you want to show off your best assets. While it’s easy to find a gown that highlights your toned arms, it can be more of a challenge to find one that accentuates your stunning legs. It isn’t impossible, though, as these great styles from Moonlight demonstrate.

High-Low Hems

This was one of the big styles on show at New York Bridal Week last month, most notably in Vera Wang’s collection. It’s a great option for the bride who wants freedom for dancing as well as a formal train. This gown features a tiered high-low skirt that offers a full, formal style with a touch of flirtiness.

Slits

A classic way of showing off your legs is with a slit. This is perfect for narrow-lined skirts including straight skirts and fit and flare styles. This style is elegant with a bit of sexiness that is great for a vintage wedding, as it brings to mind classic film starlets. This gown features a scallop-edged slit, giving the design an extra touch of decorative flair.

Short Skirts

Of course, the ultimate way to show off your legs is to choose a short wedding dress. This style is perfect for more casual weddings, destination weddings, or as a reception dress. It is a fun and fabulous style with plenty of variation. This short dress style its above the knee and features a ruffled skirt that gives it the look of a short mermaid style.

Lace Looks for Your Wedding

Vintage weddings have made lace a popular part of many bridal styles. Along with being perfect for vintage looks, lace looks are a graceful and feminine style that can suit many types of wedding.

Many lace styles take inspiration from Kate Middleton’s fabulous wedding dress. One of the newer takes on this look that we love is this gown from Ivoire Los Angeles. With lace sleeves and a delicately detailed lace overlay, it is perfect for a formal wedding.

For a vintage wedding, this Val Stefani gown is an excellent choice. The combination of lace and Swarovski crystals gives a sparkling, beautiful finish to the sweetheart neckline and mermaid silhouette combination gown.

While many lace styles keep it as an accent, this style from Fiore Couture makes the lace the stand-out feature of the wedding gown. With layers of lace creating a gorgeous full skirt, lace sleeves, and a lace illusion neckline, this dress is for the true lover of beatiful and delicate patterns.

Of course, these three gowns are just a few of the many great lace looks that are available to Arizona brides. To find the lace wedding gown that is perfect for you, come by our Gilbert bridal salon today!

Why You Should Consider a Black Wedding Dress

If you ask a bride what color her wedding dress will be, it's not often she replies, "Black." Black has always been a taboo in American weddings. But with color making a comeback, there's no reason to shy away from this sultry, figure flattering color.

Even if it’s not for a wedding dress, many women love to wear black. The dark hue hides a million sins (so to speak!), which makes you feel more confident - and more comfortable - in your clothing. At a wedding, black comes off as elegant and sophisticated.

Still can't get behind coming down the aisle in a black gown? Apart from bridal dresses, there are many ways you can incorporate the color into your wedding day. Use black in your wedding decor to give the room an upscale feel. Pair it with red, pink, or gold for a classy effect.

If you are interested in wearing a black wedding dress, there are now a number of designers that offer this color option. Schedule an appointment at our boutique where we can help you explore the possibilities!
