Diary of a Bride-to-Be: Pinspiration!

OK, be honest. Who had a Wedding Pinterest Board before they were even engaged? Guilty…

In the web-centric society we live in it’s ridiculously easy to find wedding inspiration. You can find ideas for everything from themes, to colors, to food, to photos, to music, to dresses- you name it, it’s there. If it’s not, there are always bridal magazines and as I’ve already mentioned, The Knot.

I think Pinterest and these other mediums are fantastic wedding planning tools, but you have to keep some things in mind. Here are my tips for getting inspired!

*You cannot use every grand idea you find- I mean I LOVE the idea of burlap, and wood, and Mason jars, and bottles, and stones, and pine, and succulents, and… but let’s be realistic, EVERY idea, no matter how stupendous, simply cannot create a cohesive theme.

*Don’t limit yourself- You may have found THE PERFECT DRESS or THE BEST CENTERPIECE in a magazine or online, but if you limit yourself to only that EXACT item later, you may be disappointed. The flowers in the centerpiece may be out of season, or may not be able to find a similar dress that is in your budget. Not only that, but if your heart is set on something, you may be blind to other, better options that come your way.

*Just because it’s DIY, it may not be cheaper- In fact, in many instances, it probably isn’t. If you love it, by all means, do it, but be cautious, DIY projects tend to add up fast!

*Location, location, location- I said this last time, but I recommend choosing your venue before you marry any of our wedding ideas, unless you want to choose a venue to fit your theme, and in that case, be my guest J

*Confidentiality disclaimer- I LOVE Pinterest as much as the next gal, but remember that if you don’t have a secret board, its possible that your engaged friends could steal some of your ideas. This isn’t a big deal to me, but to some girls it is, so be aware.

Are you lost as to where you should look for inspiration?

We’ve already mentioned: http://pinterest.com, and http://www.theknot.com/

Celebrating the Charm of the South-West : Real Bride Patricia!

"Thanks for everything.  The dress was absolutely a dream and fit so well.  Everyone loved it."

All of you soon-to-be brides out there know that picking a "theme", or "look" for you big day can be hard... It can be especially difficult when it comes to an outdoor wedding in the rugged desert!

Our Bride Patricia chose to embrace the rough terrain of the state, and host her wedding in the mountains of Southern Arizona.

She chose to have a rustic look for her ceremony space with a wooden platform, and added a nontraditional aspect to the wedding with her guests blowing bubbles in celebration of the newly married couple!

We hope you had the wedding day of your dreams Patricia!

And it just goes to show you, that no matter where you live, you can celebrate the charm and natural beauty surrounding you!
