There's a big trend among brides to be -- shopping for the wedding dress before getting engaged. The trend has been defended in the New York Times and Glamour magazine, and a recent survey showed 11 percent of single women have chosen their wedding dress!
Choosing the perfect wedding dress is something that is completely down to you as the bride. Many women feel that having the dress picked out (or even purchased -- of those who have chosen the dress, over a third have also already bought it!) is something that can be done early. They know what they want to wear, and that won't change whoever the groom is or whenever the wedding is.
Of course, those sticking to tradition do have some bonuses, too. Choosing the wedding dress after engagement allows you to have it fit into the rest of your wedding planning. If you're opting for a relaxed wedding in the summer, that long-sleeved very formal gown you've been eyeing might not be appropriate. It's also something special that you can share with bridesmaids, your mom, and other important people in your life.
Whether you shop early or shop in a more traditional way, the key to finding the perfect dress is always finding an excellent Arizona bridal shop. To find out what we have to offer, get in touch today!

Nikki: Country Elegant Wedding in Northern Arizona
I met Nikki months ago, when she came into our bridal boutique having sort of an idea of what she was looking for... but like many newly engaged shoppers not sure what she'd find - until she tried on this Maggie Sottero creation:
It was her dress... perfect in every way... flattering... beautifully detailed... simple yet unique.
She knew her wedding day would be a celebration of love... filled with family and friends,
She knew her style country elegant, Kohl's Ranch was as comfortable a spot as her boots!
Her flowers - soft, colorful yet natural, whispering like a gentle rain or wispy mountain breeze.
I completely love the classic touch of pearls, they compliment her smile.
Nikki - You did it! It's a beautiful day, just like you, you'll never forget how it all began. I wish you both years of holding hands and swinging through life together! Best wishes my friend - Jen

Elizabeth Taylor's Wedding Dress Available
Feel like wearing a piece of celebrity history for your wedding day? Well, if you're the highest bidder at a Christie's auction in London this week, you can. The auction will include Elizabeth Taylor's first wedding dress.
The satin gown, designed by Helen Rose, is estimated to sell for between £30,000 and £50,000. It features a built-in corset, as well as beaded and seed pearl embellishments. The dress was one of the era's most famous wedding gowns.
It was created in-house at MGM, where Taylor and Rose both worked. It took over 15 employees more than two months to create the gown.
Along with a big budget, you'll also need tiny waist to wear Taylor's gown. If you want something that's just as fantastic, but more suited to the modern bride, there are plenty of options available at our Arizona bridal shop. Give us a call or stop by today to find out more about what we have on offer!

Diary of a Bride-to-Be: I Said Yes!
Well, it happened! I got engaged! In possibly one of the prettiest places in the country, I might add- Yellowstone National Park. I knew something was up, but I could never have guessed the details of how I'd become engaged! Here's how it happened:
So that's the story! He did a good job, right?
We are planning the wedding for the Summer of 2015, so there's lots more to come! For more of my wedding wondering and bridal breakthroughs, check back soon! xoxo
My man and I traveled to Mammoth Hot Springs because he wanted gluten free hot dogs and to go for a hike. We ordered our hot dogs and he disappeared “to the restroom” for about half an hour. I later found that he was borrowing a Sharpie from the General Store and writing on the map he would soon use in his proposal... After eating, we hiked a hill littered with cow pies (buffaloads?). Out of breath, we arrived at the top where I jumped on a rock and started taking photos of the view. My soon-to-be-fiance asked what mountains were in the distance and when I said I didn't know, he asked me to help open the map so we could find out. On the map he had written, “Our journey thus far has been the most moving and wonderful time of my life. You are the most amazing woman I have ever met. I love you so very much!” This message was followed by photo of his family members that were also on the trip holding a hand crafted banner that read “Will you marry me?”. He pulled the ring from his backpack. After I said yes and we finished enjoying the view, we headed back down the mountain and out of the park for champagne at the family cabin. The cabin was decorated with balloons, the banner, and a photo of our puppy wishing us congratulations!

Angelina Jolie Choose a Traditional Gown
When Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt get married next month, expect something fabulous, but don't expect something non-traditional. While the actress had originally thought of wearing a black maxi dress, her children convinced her to stick with tradition.
Her daughters have even played a part in choosing the actual design, which is reportedly a floor-length white chiffon gown. The $400,000 dress has been designed by Hedi Slimane, creative director at Saint Laurent, who had previously designed the suit Brad wore for his wedding to Jennifer Aniston in 2000.
There has been lots of speculation about what the couple will do for their big day. While Angelina's dress choice might lean towards the traditional, their small guest list might give a hint that it won't be an entirely traditional wedding. Only 22 people have been invited, and the guests won't find out the actual wedding date until a few days before.
What do you think Angelina's dress will look like? Will the couple go traditional at their small wedding? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

A Perfect Elopement Dress
Are you planning on getting away from it all and eloping? You'll still need to find the perfect dress for the occasion!
For your wedding day, you'll want something special. For an elopement, you don't need to stick to tradition, but you should still go with something that sets the day apart. This is why it can still be a great idea to find your dress at a bridal boutique in Arizona before you head off.
If you're going any distance for your elopement, you'll want to look for a dress that is easy to pack. When you go dress shopping, find styles that are made for destination weddings, or that will be easy to transport without damaging.
You don't need to go traditional for your elopement wedding. Consider styles or colors you might not think of for a standard big wedding at home. The important thing is that you find a dress you love and that you'll really feel like a bride when you wear.
To find the perfect dress for your elopement, or for any wedding, come by Suzanne's! Our Arizona bridal shop offers a great selection and expert help, so get in touch today!

Lauren Parsekian and Aaron Paul Go Traditional
With a French masquerade theme and a fabulous Malibu, California, venue, it wouldn't have been surprising for Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul and activist Lauren Parsekian to choose a non-traditional style for their nuptials. However, the couple opted for a very traditional attire on their big day.
Aaron and his groomsmen all wore traditional tuxedos, with Aaron wearing a custom bow tie, too. Lauren's bridesmaids were dressed in vanilla chiffon gowns. The bride herself wore a stunning ballgown style white wedding dress.
Lauren's traditional gown really was the focus of the day. The dress, by Kenneth Pool, was a lace and tulle ballgown with floral accents. Its corset style bodice was paired with a full skirt, and the whole thing looked perfect on Lauren's petite figure.
Of course, there are many different traditional styles that are perfect for any figure. If you want to find the perfect traditional or ballgown style for your Arizona wedding, give us a call today!
