Princess Week: Princess Peach

Will Mario ever win the heart of the beautiful and adventurous Princess Peach (AKA Princess Toadstool)?  Yep, you know her from the numerous Super Mario Bros. games from the Nintendo gaming systems.  While she has a knack for getting kidnapped, she's a wily woman, often using her gifts and talents to protect her friends and save her kingdom.  Princess Peach is definitely a girly girl, but she knows how to hang with the boys.  While she obviously enjoys the finer things (look at the sapphires and rubies she rocks daily - and her spectacular red shoes!), she's not afraid to take a risk either or do things that are outside of the box.

That's why I think if Princess Peach ever settles down with Mario, she'd be estatic to wear this blush pink number by Kitty Chen Couture.  It's full, A-line style keeps it princess-y enough for a royal wedding, but it's unique details keep it edgy - just like Princess Peach.  The feathered skirt and unique color are something I think Princess Peach would appreciate, and the sparkly belt would indulge her love of bling.

Princess Week: Cinderella

She may be fictional, but she is probably one of the best known and most loved princesses in all of history.  Cinderella tells the story of a down and out girl who wins the heart of the dashing and handsome Prince Charming.  Although she thinks she's just a common girl, her fairy godmother know she deserves a dress that shows off her inner beauty.

In the Disney version of the story, Cinderella ends up getting married in a white, chiffon-looking, ball gown, complete with poofy sleeves and bustles.  But in 2011, who wears that dated stuff anymore?  If Cindy (if we may be so informal) were getting married today, she'd undoubtedly go for a ball gown more like this one from Moonlight Bridal's Stephanie Collection.  It retains all the elements you'd want to see in the gown of a princess, but updates it with a sleeveless neckline and adds just the right amount of sparkle (something missing from the Princess' original dress) to set off those one-of-a-kind glass slippers.

Don't you think Cinderella would look amazing in a gown like this?

Princess Week: Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco

As a model, actress, and princess, Grace Kelly – who became Princess Grace of Monaco - undoubtedly lived a charmed life. She reigned alongside her husband from 1956 until her tragic death in 1982. Although Her Serene Highness (as she was titled) was known to be as gracious as her name would suggest, she was also rumored to have something of a wild side. I imagine that if she was getting married today, Grace Kelly would want a gown that showed off both sides of her personality.

This amazing ball gown from Justin Alexander’s Signature collection achieves both the serious and playful sides of a woman like Grace Kelly. The dress features a removable, lace, reverse bolero with full sleeves and a high neck. The romantic modesty would appease both her Catholic family and his royal family as she walked down the aisle for their church ceremony.

After the world had watched what had become known as “The Wedding of The Century”, Grace could let loose and enjoy a private reception by removing the lace top to reveal a stunning and sexy, strapless bodice. With or without the lace bolero, the dress would be stunning. The full, ball skirt is exactly what a princess of her nature would wear.
